W.B. Rhodes served as a member of Company B of the Confederate 7th Regiment, Louisiana Volunteer Infantry, during the Civil War. Rhodes's record is part of a detailed history of The Pelican Regiment, which served primarily in the Eastern Theater of the war. It was prominent in Stonewall Jackson’s Valley Campaign in 1862 and saw action in the Seven Days’ Battles, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg.
