Virginia P. Barron (1844-1888) was called Jennie. She was a daughter of Capt. Samuel Barron (1836-1892), United States Navy and Confederate States Navy. On March 7, 1865, she married Capt. Edward R. Barid, Confederate States Army. There were three generations of naval men, all named Samuel Barron, and it is easy to confuse them. The Barrons were a prominent seafaring family from Norfolk and Essex County. Their family papers may be found at William & Mary University.
